ANU LaTex Thesis Template Font Problem Solved

I was using ANU LaTex Thesis Template provided by CECS, and followed the instructions to update all packages and rebuilt the Tex tree, but when I was typesetting my writing the output dvi file didn't display properly, that some math symbols were missed, only white spaces were shown instead. It was weird that \wedge was there but \bigwedge was not showing up. Plus, numbers in $$ were also white spaces.

When I converted the dvi file into a pdf file, error message showed that "dvips: Font eurmo10 not found, using cmr10 instead.". What was more strange was that the pdf file showed something different, both \wedge and \bigwedge were good, but only capital greek letters were shown, lower case greek letters were all white spaces. I googled eurmo10, but found that I actually had that font in /usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/tfm/adobe/palatino/, but somehow it was not loading. The problem seemed to be with the fonts, that eurmo10 couldn't show some math symbols, while cmr10 couldn't show some other symbols.

Then I tried to use another font, when I googled LaTex font, the first page "LaTex Font Catalogue" showed a link "Fonts with math support". I thought that was the thing I needed. In that page, a font called Palatino drew my attention, that it was the directory where eurmo10 was located. I followed the usage and added the command in my tex file:

\usepackage[sc]{mathpazo}
\linespread{1.05}         % Palatino needs more leading (space between lines)
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}

Then problem solved! Although the div file is still not showing \bigwedge, but the converted pdf file is all good. It looks like eurmo10 can actually show all the symbols when the settings are correct (otherwise CECS won't use it as default, since most of us use math symbols quite often).

Z's Recommended Jailbreak Sources and Apps

Having been playing around different apps and tweaks for a few days after untethered jailbroke my iPhone4 (iOS 5.0.1), I've got a rough idea of the simplest but useful apps from cydia on my mind. This post is just for reminding me the good ones I tried, cause I really screwed up my phone a couple of times.

Cydia Sources
Besides those come with Cydia, I added:
1. http://cydia.hackulo.us, of course, this ought to be the first one one should add after jailbreaking his iPhone.
2. http://sinfuliphonerepo.com, with tones of cracked apps from Cydia. That's the key, I've got Installous for cracked apps from App Store, but what about those from Cydia? I still don't wanna pay a penny for them. This is why people like me feel sinful. However, I added it with errors once, so I personally prefer the following one.
3. http://cydia.xsellize.com, this one contains a lot of cracked apps and tweaks as well as games, so far most of them are stable on my phone.

There are a helluva lot more sources, I just didn't bother adding them, since the 3rd one usually do the job.

Cydia apps and tweaks
I've been installing most popular ones on my phone, but some of them seem to be not that compatible. Once I tried a cracked Intelliscreen from yet another source, errors showed when installing, and when I came back to Cydia it told me previous installed package was not complete, so I force cleared the package. But what happened next was that whenever I enter an app, the image shrink to 1/4 of the entire screen, all the rest was black and nonclickable. The touching area in that 1/4 image was mispositioned as well, so I can't click the correct button any more, and consequently can't even uninstall previous packages. At the end of the day I restored my phone on iTunes and rejailbroke it.
Unfortunately, that was not the only time I met the situation. Same thing happened again after I uninstalled another app. I don't remember the name but the strange thing was that when I installed it, my phone worked fine although the app itself didn't work, after I uninstalled it and restarted the Springboard, my phone got screwed up again. 1/4 image for every app. Therefore, I don't wanna use those fancy tweaks and apps any more, now I just have some very basic, simple but useful ones:
1. Installous. This one enables you to download and install almost all the apps from App Store. Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope... have fun.
2. Activator. This one comes with Installous automatically. Gives you more choices to utilise the limited buttons on your iPhone.
3. AppSync. It comes with Installous as well, allows you to sync and install apps.
4. SBSettings. Must have app, gives you instant access to common usages like 3G, Airplane mode, Bluetooth, Location Service, Processes, WIFI, etc..
5. Multifl0w. An alternative to iOS's original multitasking approach, gives an Expose-like interface which makes things way clearer and easier.
6. ManualCorrect. I don't know how many people hate iPhone's auto correction, but I really wanna disable it.
7. Infinifolers. No more limits on the number of apps in a folder, now you can scroll to browse them. I believe people tend to have more games than a folder can hold, now problem solved.
8. iFile. Total management of your files, now you can browse them just like on a computer.
9. Icon Renamer. I don't like every version of Angry Birds to be named the same way, I'd like to name some apps in my way.
10. Autocorrection Bar & iSwipe. The former brings you the bar of autocorrection options, the latter is a mimic of swipe input method. Both look like copy cats of the input on Android phones. Fun to have them, but I don't find them efficient personally.

With 50$ in my pocket, 3$ in my bank account, I came back from Sydney. Fridge died, all foods went bad. First day of the doom year, Aldi and Supabarn closed. Next pay day was four days away. It was the first time that I couldn't even afford the instant noodle in the Chinese shop, but got the Indonesian ones instead. The best part was, half of my money was gone in the blink of an eye when I entered Cube in the New Year Eve.

Today, I boiled all the rest eggs, bought a bag of toast slices, bacon, cookie and lettuce from Aldi. Those are all I have until Thursday. I can hardly think of a reason that a girl would still be with me now. I am so broke. The most often words used by me these days was "I got torn up out there".

But soon, may peace and luck come after I move to Toad Hall!

Getting Tired

She told me, the only person I loved was myself. That was the end of it. I didn't think twice about that relationship, stupidly believed that I was doing my best. Probably she knew that, at some point, I would disappoint her anyway.

Long time after that, when I got used to living on my own, I found it hard to open the door to anyone again. Friendship, relationship, any connections will fail me. At some point, I will get tired, as what I felt for Vesper. There was nothing wrong to ask me for help when she got panic on her exams, nothing wrong when she felt lonely and tired and needed to share a meal with me.

But I never asked anyone for help, did I? That's right, I was being used.

I knew that from the very beginning, every one of them was doing the same thing to me. Come to me when they feel lonely and leave me alone when they are good. They wouldn't admit that forever, they would think they were just doing something as usual as dining with friends. But that's really what they made me feel. No one will actually take me seriously. I am just a joke.

This is why I wanna move. I need a new environment, new people surround me. My connections to people never lasts more than enough, and this time as well.

I heard that a friend didn't even wanna show her boyfriend in front of people. That made me sick. If you are still trying to find someone better, why are you wasting his time? What's she made of? An uptown classy girl, that distinguishes her from the rest and allows her to choose from others? Bullshit. It's really selfish to hang out with someone while don't consider him seriously.

They did nothing wrong, but I'm just getting tired.

Captain Price -- the real die hard

Just finished Modern Warfare 3. The saddest thing is that Soap died. He was die hard in the previous games, but not the ultimate one. Captain Price, who can be found in the series since the very first game of Call of Duty as a member in British 6th Airborne Division and SAS, was the only one who survived, again. Now, 8 games passed, numbers of soldiers fought with him died, Infinity Ward left him alone smoking his favorite cigar in the end, lonely, but alive.

He is compassionate, but ruthless. He has lost too much, he can't give up any friendlies, but he kills enemies without a blink of an eye.

Gaz, the CQB record keeper, killed by the boss in Modern Warfare. Griggs died seconds before, when he was dragging Soap to the cover. Roach (Gary Sanderson), together with one of my favorite role, Ghost (Simon Riley), were killed by General Shepherd, after they tried so hard to complete their missions for him. Not to mention Meat, 0zone, Scarecrow, Rook...

In Modern Warfare 3, Soap's death must have shocked Price too much. Later, when they saved the president of Russian and his daughter, the chopper evacuated without the three Metal members: Sandman, Crinch, and Truck. I heard Price yelled desperately. But what can he do? That's what warfare is. Yuri saved Price from Makarov in the end, but couldn't drop a guy who wasn't even looking at him. Of course, that was the main role's job. But Yuri was blacked and whited, he was lucky that he didn't die with Soap, "for now". Probably Price would regret saying that to Yuri after he lighted his cigar.

MW3 is short and straightforward, but it puts my favorite series to an end anyway.

Superficial Philosophical Intro to Computability Theory (1): The Story of Hilbert and Godel--The Origins

In 1900, besides the birth of a pianist who only carried out his performance on the sea, Hilbert published 23 problems in mathematics, 10 of which were presented at the conference of International Congress of Mathematicians in Pairs, the complete list was translated later in 1902. The answers of ten problems have been verified, seven problems have been given partial solutions, some remains unsovled, but the emphasis here, are those that have been proved to be unsolvable.

Amonst those problems, the one that has been mentioned repeatedly in computer science is Hilbert's Tenth Problem: To find a general way of telling effectively whether a given Diophantine equation has a solution or not.

In other words, it asks if a indeterminate polynomial equation has only integer solutions or not.

I guess when Hilbert proposed those problems, he must expected positive solutions, and he might not foresee that things would go "astray", or at least, not all the same as he thought. His famous Hilbert's Programme was aiming to prove his Second Problem: Prove that the axioms of arithmetic is consistent. To be specific, he wanted to find a mathematical theory that is complete and consistent, he wanted to prove the consistency or everyday arithmetic within arithmetic.

The description is easy to understand, or even intuitively "trivial", but sometimes our most humble faith has to be compromised.

In early 1930s, Gödel's papers showed something that made an ever large earthquake in the world of mathematics, and the fallout has been longer lasting than any other mathematical theorems.

Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem: Any consistent theory containing enough of the basic theorems of arithmetic is incomplete, and it is incapable of even proving its own consistency.
It's like a bolt in the blue, we suddenly knew that mathematics was not as omnipotent as we worshiped. It follows the question that if there are indeed problems that cannot be solved? How powerful is math and what is human race capable of doing?

The answer to Hilbert's Tenth Problem frustrated us once more, but definitely not as the last time. In 1970, it had been proved by Matiyasevich's theorem that it is not possible to solve this problem. I truly hope the people interested in computability theory can keep optimistic and don't commit suicide.

There is a little story in the beginning of the book, I like it and thus quote it here.
Königsberg, September 1930, Hilbert delivered the opening address to the Society of German Scientists and Physicians, declaring: "For the mathematician there is no Ignoramibus, and , in my opinion, not at all for natural science either...The true reason why (no one) has succeeded in finding an unsolvable problem is, in my opinion, that there is no unsolvable problem. In contrast to the foolish Ignoramibus, our credo avers: We must know, We shall know." (I reckon Hilbert would be crying if he had known the later Rice's Theorem.)

But one day earlier, same city, Gödel was just having a philosophical meeting discussing his now famous results, opened the page of computability theory and researches on what is computable and what is not.

Perfect Plan for 1 Year Coursework in ANU School of Computer Science

I've done my Master of Computing in ANU, I can't say my study in ANU in the past year was ideal, since I've been bullshitted about the course structure in the beginning of my life here. I have done my best on the courses I ended up doing, but I could've done much better if I knew more info about courses in ANU.

First of all, I wouldn't prefer to start from July, since in Australia the normal starting time is Feb. A wrong commencement time could mess a lot of things up. So, suppose you start in semester 1, the best courses (combination) I'd suggest in the school of Computer Science should be:

COMP6320 Artificial Intelligence
COMP6363 Theory of Computation
COMP6467 Statistical Machine Learning
COMP8400 Algorithms for Data Mining

A little explanation. AI is said to be the best research group in ANU, so doing AI is definitely one of the best choices you have here. COMP6320 covers basic knowledge about AI, very recommended for sem1. COMP6363 is about some extended knowledge in principles of compiling, and very crazy theories about computation. Though COMP6363 is said to be of the highest failure rate in Computer Science courses, but as a computing student, you should challenge yourself for a bit. People told me COMP6467 is one of the hardest course here, but again, it's one of the best courses. For COMP8400, it's easy enough to give you some time to have a rest when you're busying doing the other three courses.

For second semester, the following courses are recommended:

COMP8420 Bio-inspired Computing
COMP8620 Advanced Topics in AI

Of course you should do Advanced AI, though it's also hard. To balance that, COMP8420 is a good option, simply because Tom is a super good guy.

I would also recommend COMP6463 Overview of Logic, if you are interested in logics. But doing a 1 sem project is also a good idea, if you want to do more research.

Complain about PES2011, and that series‏

After playing PES2011 for a while, I can't stand it anymore, I sent an email to KONAMI just now...

Dear Sir or Madam,

I'm a student doing computing in ANU, but much more importantly, I'm a true football fan (sorry that I refer to soccer as football, because this is the only game can be called football to me).

My favorite team is Manchester United, I've been watching their games since I fell in love with football, I've been playing football PC games since then as well, and I've been playing football (in real world) for years. I believe that as least I know something about football, as a amateur; and I know too much about being a football fan, of United, of English Premier League, and European Champion's League. For years, I watch their games every week and every midweek, despite the time lag. Waking up at 4 am for European Champion's League is a piece of cake, as long as United makes it.

I'm also a heavy PC game player, I've played every game of PES series and FIFA series in the past TEN YEAERS, as well as all kinds of other sorts of games, RPG, ACT, FPS, whatever.

Okay, cut the crap, I just want to say that I've seen too many real football matches, and your game, makes me feel nothing like the real one (either does the PC version of FIFA, that's even shitter).

Since PES2009, I felt something strange in the game, the feeling is hard to capture and describe, however, I wished it could be more like real football in the next one every time, but years passed, you guys never improve the essence. This time it really pissed me off. I have to figure out what the hell is truly and utterly wrong inside everything. I know you have experts on this, gamers, programers, designers, you must have been consulting football experts and Messi as well, maybe you've heard my bullshit complain a lot of times, but anyways I want to tell you again.

First of all, being a Paul Scholes fan for ten years, after he retired I wanna play football in games in his style. I tried in PES2011, it never worked out. Positions of wingers are not wide enough (though I adjusted), but moreover, whichever way I'm playing, my attack seems to be counter attack as always. Counter attack is so common in this game that I can hardly play the typical Manchester United attacking style. I wanna control the ball and keep the presure on, but it's hard in the game because:

1. Opponent's defense line is always pushing too much forward (no matter which team it is), nearly to the middle of the pitch, so that whenever I through the ball in that area, it becomes a one on one directly to keeper too easily. And i've seen so many stupid offsides near the middle of the pitch.

2. Mostly I'm playing Be A Legend mode, I wanna do some teamwork with NPC's but they are too selfish. I was playing the same mode in FIFA, and normally I made 40 or more passes in a game (as a midfielder), but in BAL of PES2011, on average I made 20 passes or less in the same time, playing same role. I pass the ball out and NPC's just play with themselves and finally lose the ball, although I'm calling the ball in the space all the time.

3. NPC's seldom return the ball back, all they know is to dribble or pass forward, even though the space is small. Too many times, I'm standing right beside them calling the ball, in a comfortable position, but they are blind.

4. NPC's dribbles too much. Whoever is holding the ball, no matter he is the Messi style player or not, when they are at sides of the pitch, they keep running with the ball for a long distance. I've seen Fletcher running with the ball along side the line for too many times, man, they are not that type.

Those above happens since always in PES series, you emphasize on dribble skills and through balls and think those make a real football game, but the basics of the game is wrong. Here's a detail thing that I noticed:

From 3 and 4, the conclusion is, When a player gets the ball in real game, most commonly he will observe the situation and make a good pass. What you should see is he stops the ball, stands there, and passes the ball to a friendly in a good position. That is, most actions of a player are done in where he gets the ball. But in PES series, when an NPC gets the ball, he first considers where to run with the ball. So what you see in PES2011 is that an NPC stops the ball, and then often run with the ball to somewhere else and then pass.That running is most often redundant and will cause troubles since it squeezes the space a player has. It doesn't mean that a football game is standing still, but what you should see more is running without the ball but not running with the ball.

From 1 and 2, what we should get is that much fewer passing is happening in PES series than it should be, because we make through balls too easily in the middle field. The power of an organizer is reduced in the game, players like Sneijder would be more or less useless. Their passes in real games build up the attack, but in PES series an attack in build of just 3 or 4 passes, which means when they pass the ball to another player, they would probably not get the ball again.

These are so far what I can think of.

I know you have plenty of reasons to make the game like that on purpose, such as you have to balance the rhythm of the game so that one team wouldn't control the ball all the time and make too many passes or return balls so that the other team has nothing to do and shit, but what you are presenting in the game is too far, the rhythm (the transition of defense and attack) is too fast. That makes an organizer like Sneijder nothing but a normal passer.

I'm not sure my points are insightful, but at least those are what a real football game should be to me.

Exams are finished.

I got a strange feeling that I delivered my fate out of my hand since the moment I went out of the Sports Hall. Now the only thing I can do is waiting, fitfully. Preparing exams was like hell, but at least I held what I had tightly, I knew what I must do, I knew what was happening. But now, it's like in limbo. I totally don't know what will happen, where will I be, what should I do, and most importantly, I can do nothing now. Absolutely nothing.

I am convincing myself that I have done my best this time, but I don't actually know it. What if there was a 20 marks question hidden behind the last page? Similar things are lingering on my mind every now and then. What if an outsider is about to end up going back to the place where he got exiled from? What if the destiny just says yes, you need to go back? Okay...I am an outsider anywhere, anyway.

It seems that everybody is leaving. I still remember the first day I was in this country, I asked Asim where to buy a pair of slippers. Soon, this "container village" will be half empty and then be filled in by fresh faces. But will I get to know another bunch of people who will fill up those vacuuming cells on my brain? It's hard. Brain is not like main memory, when you shut it down and then power it up, not everything would be refreshed.

I shudder to think if I would have to face this too many times in the future.

Computability, Decidability and Intractability

My little conclusion: a lot of problems are not computable (not recursively enumerable); for those that are computable, most of them are not decidable (recursively enumerable but not recursive); for those that are decidable, a lot of them are intractable (NP-complete, or most NP are not solvable in tolerable time); for those that are tractable, a humble guy like me can't realise a lot of them...

To be honest, I didn't know BT downloading was blocked in campus until weeks ago, because I'm using the omnipotent Thunder (I'm so proud that this made in china software is is so damn good).

Sorry this is in Chinese, you have to learn some if you want to use the good shit. Actually not too much. So I give a simple tutorial so that everybody knows how to operate the basics.

Most of the icons are selfexplaining what they do, the only thing you need to know is the leftdown corner icon gives you access to most of operations. Click it, and on the menu, first one "新建任务" means new task, which allows you to paste the links(from whatever protocol except torrents) and get started downloading. Second item "打开BT种子文件" says open BT torrent file(should be obvious when you see BT). The 6th item "下载完成后关机" says shut down your PC after all tasks are completed, quite useful function. The 7th item "配置" is settings, but i'm not gonna go into the detail here, you may want to attend Elva's free Chinese mentoring classes(at Laurus Wing common room every wednesday 19:30) before messing up things there.

Drawing smooth boundary using Photoshop

When writing assignment about implementing K-means algorithm, I really wanted to have a graph like those in the textbook so that results can be shown clearly.

But drawing the boundary of those clusters with paint is hard to get the smooth effect, and results in "unprofessional" pics like below.

Needless to say, they are fucking ugly. Vince laughed at this. And when I said I should use Photoshop to draw a better one, he said that was "unprofessional" either, but whatever, fuck the "professional" way, I need to submit it tomorrow, so this is the way I came up with.
Use "Pen Tool" to draw a rough path (shortcut is P).

Right click the path, select "Make Selection".

Feather Radius could be large to make the selection area smoother.

Then use "Rectangular Marquee Tool" (shortcut is M).

Right click on the selection area, choose "Refine Edge".

Set the values like below. In Adjust Edge, make "smooth" and "Shift Edge" larger, and make "Contrast" large if you wanna see the exact boundary. "Feather" could be large as well. Adjust those as you like until you think it fits what you want.

Right click on the selection area again, choose "Make Work Path".

Go to the "Path" panel, click the second button at the bottom (the empty circle).

Then use whatever tool you like to fill the boundary, such as "Brush Tool" or "Pencil Tool", with a suitable size, such as 5px.

Done.

Ain't it beautiful? Who gives a shit which tool I used, I made it perfect.

I went back to renren.com yesterday, and found it even copied facebook's new profile styple...partly.

It is a good idea to put the recent photos in the front, but i don't really see why renren.com is copying every single thing as it can.

However, renren.com shows who have view your profile, which, in my consideration, is a very privacy violating stuff. The good thing is, Chinese normally don't give a shit about privacy (how common do your parents open your letters and your girlfriend check your texts...). Plus, it shows how many times your profile is viewed, which is a popularity criterion, and based on which they rank popular profiles in universities' "top profiles". I saw people crazy for making their scores higher. It's a good psychology strategy though, people always want to compete with others and get top ranked. And what's more, you see the little star on the renren.com page? That's level indicator showing how many times you logged in, good strategy also, as what QQ has been doing (I also saw people crazy for a "sun" in QQ, that enthusiasm, I bet, people using MSN won't have, and won't even give a damn).

Main page is similar as well (of course), except the bottom bar is a bit different, there are still things like my applications and other shits in renren.com, but there are things like "go back to top", which I think, is kinda nice.

There is an interesting difference in the posts area, facebook hides all the previous comments but the recent two or something, while renren leaves the first comment there. It's hard to say whether the first comment is important, to some extend, it stands for the comment that starts the discussion below, so maybe it helps remaining people where does the discussion start. But I think the most common case is, nobody looks at the top comments if there are really too many.

The chat function is copied as well (a long time ago), but there is no grouping in renren, maybe because I don't have any groups in there. A important difference is, facebook saves chat history and shows it to you as soon as you open a chat box, while renren doesn't. The root reason may be, facebook's chat is associated with it's message (email), so all the chat history goes to your messages. But renren actually links chat with the wall on your profile (and makes it hidden so that nobody else sees it), which I think is stupid. The reason is, chatting is essentially like messaging or mailing, which are normally one to one or one to many, and we want to specify who are we chatting to. While posting on the wall is like posting a tweet or blogging or something, which we want to share with a lot of people (we may specify a group of people to share with, but more commonly we want to share with everybody, or a large group of people that we are too tired to know who exactly are in there. If the group is small enough, then things like blog lost their points of existing (spirit of sharing ideas or whatever), why don't we just send batch emails?). For the same reason, I think integrating Buzz into Gmail is a shit move (despite the privacy problem), since these two things are not used for the same way. I'd integrate Buzz with Blogspot or even Reader (where we can share our ideas of readings), which from my point of view, makes a helluva lot more sense.

There is a level system in renren, which corresponds to the "star"s and shit, and makes some people addicted in loading renren everyday. And other things like giving gifts (some are not free!) and furnishing your profile (some layouts are not free as well!) and features like those. They're good ways to make( or kite) money from people. This is the reason that QQ is more addictive and dominating in China than MSN or Gtalk, because they know how to make money from those stupid immature kids or, okay, teenagers. Underlying that is a smart commercial mode which drives people crazy by having some small but delicate features that are, from one side, humanised, but from the other side, useless to a lot of people.

Ads. Renren have friends linked under that, which is quite like what facebook does on some famous persons pages or something, but on ads, I don't know...Privacy...

I think renren is like QQ, it copies everything, but modifies sometimes if necessary, which fits into Chinese's customs. At some point, maybe it will start doing most things on its own, that indicates it is doing really good and suits Chinese's flavour so much (but can't change the fact that I think whatever copies other's works explicitly is fricking lame). To hide the icon of a running application in dock

There are occasions that you don't want to see the icon of some running applications on dock, for example, when you are running growl for hardware but it doesn't actually do anything except telling you what's going on in your system, you can't configure that application, so maybe you'd prefer it running in background without noticing.

Here's what you can do about this:
Right click the application and choose "Show Package Contents", then in the content folder, open the file "info.plist" with textedit, add the following in the file(normally in the dict section):

Reopen the application, you'll find no icon for that on the dock.

GAppProxy 2--Free and Fast Access to Facebook and Youtube in the "Wall"

Maybe this post is late, I didn't notice the update since someone else told me this. But anyway, it seems that nothing new is added, it's still like what it was. The updates were like "more secure" or "enhanced connections" or something, I didn't read it thoroughly.

I tried to load some videos from youtube and facebook, it was all good, a bit slow, but at least it worked. I didn't try that much before since google engine has limits for upload and download. I tried uploading pics on facebook also(it was the crowed people in the city center of Xi'an, the first pic I successfully uploaded since I was back for holidays), it worked alright. The pic was 2.3mb(though must be compressed before uploaded), I failed a lot of times when I was using the old version or freegate and stuff.

So far what I feel is that the new version is pretty good, but the limit of only 1gb per day is still there(though I don't think one need to use that much per day).

Unfortunately, the address of this project is "walled"(forgive this, but if you wanna use something made for Chinese, you gotta learn some Chinglish). So for the convenience of everyone, I uploaded the files on my skydrive(I doubt the point of this since only those outta the "wall" can see this post...but this maybe useful for those who are about to go back to China for holidays). I don't want to waste my time on explaining how to use it, check it out in the manual.

The zip file contains 5 things: a user manual(in Chinese, guess the author of GAppProxy must be Chinese, from his email address and, people from other countries won't think of making such things, if u don't know Chinese...then learn some! or, refer to my previous post for the know-how to use it), a fetch server uploader for windows(uploader-2.0.0-win), a fetch server uploader for other platforms(fetchserver-2.0.0), a local proxy for windows(localproxy-2.0.0-win), and a local proxy for other platforms(localproxy-2.0.0).

Overall, I find the speed of GAppProxy is pretty good, loading web pages in the blink of an eye, loading videos a little slower, but not bad. The problem is, maybe exactly the reason why FnGs doesn't like this, the HTTPS and stuff. Well, I'm using safari in mac, it can specify HTTPS proxy as well as HTTP proxy, so everything works soooo good. If you are using Windows or something else, I don't know then, try to download a safari for that platform may be the best solution.

I updated my VMware Fusion today, set 2 CPUs, 1G memory and turned on 3D graphics, then retested in Windows 7 in VMware Fusion Full Screen mode, I got:

Processor score was reasonably higher, I remember that my old notebook with CORE 2 Duo T7300 was marked lower than 6. Memory sucked(of course), graphics was ok, gaming was bullshit, I don't believe one can play any games except 10 years old CS with 3.9 on this. But hard disk was amazingly 7.6, since SSD is used.

If U Want To Visit Xi'an

There are several good places that you should visit, and some good foods that you should taste, or you're wasting your time in that city. In all my screenshots, the coordinates are in the bottom, so that it's easier for you to find in Google Earth.

First of all, if you want to take a look at somewhere "exotic", Terra Cotta Warriors and Huaqing Hot Springs are your must visits.

The nearer one from city is Huaqing Hot Springs, farther one is Terra Cotta Warriors. I think they're famous enough, no need to describe.

If you want to go somewhere near city centre, The Tang Paradise and Qujiang are ideal.

This is The Tang Paradise, beautiful place, built in recent years.

This is Qujiang, very close to The Tang Paradise, these two places are recommended to be visited together.

While if you want to see something spectacular, by the time you go to China, Da Ming Palace should be opened. It is said that after rebuild, that place consists of the largest set of palaces and largest square in China.

From city centre, follow the path to go to Da Ming Palace, while that place is too big, I don't know where exactly is the entrance.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is another place that is crowded with people. The north square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda is full of people everyday, with fountain playing at 12:00 and 21:00 in weekdays and 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 21:00 in weekends.

Enough for places of interests, there are certain foods that you must taste during the days you stay.

First recommendation is Yang Rou Pao Mo, which is my favourite! There are many restaurants selling good stuff, but the most famous one is called Lao Mi Jia, which locates in the Muslin District(where there are a lot of nice foods) near city centre.

Lao Mi Jia is somewhere near the spot the arrow points at, there are two adjacent restaurants with the same name, but they're not essentially the same brand, go to the souther one, at noon time, they close very early in the afternoon! WHT, best foods in Xi'an is always in those places that looks poor, dark, and out of the way, don't be scared when I see so many people crowded eating something looks dirty without waiter or waitress serving, it is the way it should be in China. You have to take your own dish to your table.

Then Rou Jia Mo is also one of the best local foods, I suggest you go to Fan Ji to enjoy that.

The two arrows point at different branches of Fan Ji, I think they're both good and close to city centre, find the nearest one in your trip.

And Liang Pi, I'd like to buy it from Zhang Jun, or Jun Jun's, there are many branches everywhere in Xi'an.

From Bell Tower go straight south, you should find one of them.

If you want to taste some food from other areas of China, I'd recommend two places near my home:).

Number 1 is called Si Chuan Ren He, very nice and luxurious place, with expensive but nice Si Chuan Cuisine, but comparing to those in Oz, it's only a little expensive.

Number 2 is called Hu Nan Tu Jia Cai, small but cozy, with cheap and super delicious Hunan Cuisine.

Among the 8 distinctively cuisines in Chinese Food, I like Hunan Cuisine most, it's hot(so is Si Chuan Cuisine). My favourite dishes are Hong Shao Rou and Suan La Tu Dou Si.

Now if you want to go shopping, nearest and largest one from Bell Tower is Kai Yuan.

If you want to buy something luxurious, the only place in Xi'an is Zhong Da International.

Go straight south from Bell Tower, you'll find this, quite conspicuous, with Louis Vuitton on one side and Prada on the other.

Wan Da Guang Chang is also a nice place to waste your time, you can find restaurants, cinema, shops, everything in that place.

Last but not least, if you are still energetic, go to Hua Shan, if I were you I wouldn't miss that.

It's quite far from city, but that mountain is awesome, best one in China!

Surprise In The Corner

Today I talked too much, when too many things are on my mind, there has to be a time that I have to pour those whims out, and I'm happy that there were some good friends who could listen to me, even though they might not be interested. I'm so easy to feel loneliness without people surrounding me, when I'm alone in my room, A.K.A, now.

If fate is really like what astrolabes indicate, I won't have to wait in silence for the surprise in the corner. That's stupid.

Ailsa said, all those feelings start from a little compassion, I agreed, but I always botch what seems to be smooth for me.

Sullen mood spread out my mind when Daniel left, those days in Citygate flashed back, Kelly, Jackson, Daniel and Surabhi made the first place I lived in this country so like home, I didn't even have time to miss my hometown.

I'm wondering that when I left, was there anybody missed me? Probably not, I just evaporated from their world, that was the way I was, and possibly will always be. I'm always the one who wouldn't make a move, and wait for the swerve of my life.

Watched The A-Team with Daniel, pretty good movie, at least better than The Expendables. When Daniel was playing The Expendables in the common room, "nobody was watching that, they were all talking", but when we were watching The A-Team, we were laughing all the time.

Even the story line is not so fresh, but at least the actions were eye catching. As Daniel said, none of them were realistic, but that's what a movie could show us. I saw Schindler's getting old, but his fighting skills were even better than in Taken, I saw the man in Hangover was shooting at drones from a tank in the air, I saw the half man in District 9 driving a chopper in the craziest way I've ever seen.

I like the line "Wow, that's awesome! That looks exactly like Call Of Duty, doesn't it?".

坐四十分钟车，来到一个绿翠不再满盈的学校。校园的空间容不下教学楼的阴影，唯独留出杂草众生的足球场在不协调的地图中享受阳光。食堂，宿舍，布局像一个典型的中学，形容为寒酸。但是我并不在意，在新校区住了三年，食堂那么多，依然会为吃饭发愁。广阔与狭小，崭新与颓旧，在这里以不成比例的褒贬延伸，直到触到我的思绪时，毫不犹豫地喜欢上这个看不到夕阳西下的地方。

从这里出发，在万达天穹一般的屋顶下排队买票。郁蓝色的灯光，熙攘的人群，那是没有压力的生活。在等待的时候去楼下超市买最爱吃的零食，薯片，茉莉蜜茶，还有袋装的葡萄干，我记得的。

或者，在开元西侧的喷泉旁，看着钟楼的人来车往，分不清楚那里的民生和新正元广场。在东大街一路上抉择晚饭的着落，停留在地摊旁犹豫，在骡马市地下的商场中穿梭，擦肩而过闹市中交杂的人群。漫不经心地挑选一个白色的皮包，不要太成熟也不要太幼稚。每次听到贵这个字时我心中都有种说不出口的怜悯，那个时候手上总有花不完的钱，消磨不掉的时间，人才开始变得不知道珍惜。

最后还是回到钟楼买了几个著名的肉包子和蛋挞，在电影院旁悠闲地坐下，一边喝草莓奶昔一边听自己曾经经历过的故事。时间插上翅膀开始飞逝，等到我回过神，在离场的走廊边懵懂得不知所措，留在那里的还有那把落在座位上的扇子。

结束的场景在总是宿舍的楼下，天色渐晚，我弯着腰走过矮小的枝丫。在夏风的味道中，我看到白纸上的我爱罗绝决的眼神和冷酷的面庞，那是我的杰作。

回到家里无由来地唏嘘很久，然后安眠。

夏天的故事就这样走过一个轮回，下次降临的时候，已然没有我。

3D CECS in Google Map

I used Google Map today to search for a location of a house in turner, where I wanted to move to. Then suddenly I felt that the building of my school is different, it was 3D.

Among so many buildings in ANU, there are only 2 buildings that were made in 3D model. Obviously Google sensed that high buildings in Canberra are too few, if it was in other places, buildings like CECS wouldn't be given a shit.

Even though it looks like an artwork by kindergarden children, but at least better than before. 2 months ago, the only 3D model in this area was the tower on Black Mountain.

In Sydney

In the central station of Sydney, I bought tea for each, nice trip started, and weather started turning bad.

The Harbour Bridge, place of interest, what a pity we didn't go into it. Left hand side of me was the Opera House.

So many people out there, this place looked more and more like China ever since. If someone asks me why I want to go abroad, I'd say, for fewer people. That's why I like Canberra. But Sydney is beautiful also----at least it looks like a metropolis.

The Opera House is pretty old actually, if you look close enough.

This is the largest ship I've ever seen. We bought a weekly ticket for almost every transport tools in Sydney, I took bus, train, and ferry. I took plane to Canberra when I first arrived Oz, so I used almost every transport tool here. But this huge ship was definitely out of the range, if I took it I might probably get back to China.

This is why Sydney is very different from Canberra, I saw skyscrapers!

When I first saw this, I thought it was somewhere in my hometown, there're too many places like this in China.

Just like those in my university cafeteria in Xidian, restaurants shoulder to shoulder, noisy, mixed flavour, full of people, talking in Chinese, no waiter or waitress, yelling at customers when dishes finished, had to take dishes to our table by ourselves, not clean of course...

The first time I saw sea. Good yeah? Mom promised me when I was 6 or so, it took me so many years to smell the salty wind.

Having been using the old icon for a year, now I need to refresh my style. BTW, the old style is from Death Note, the same as L is icon.

The new icon is of the same style as Apple stuffs, reflect light and inverted reflection in water.I made two versions, one with shadow and inverted reflection, the other one is transparent. I designed the font by myself!

Just got the Office 2011 for mac final, feels good!

Both the icons of MSN and Office 2011 folder have been changed.

Latest icons of each applications in Office 2011, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and notably Outlook instead of Entourage.

New Excel.

Templates for Excel.

This is much better than Excel 2008, the spreadsheet is clean and neat, unlike in 2008, several pages are shown all together, making people confused about where the current page stops.

Note that all the components in Office 2011 are of the similar interface as those in Office 2010 for Windows, this ribbon view is said to be done using Cocoa, everybody has to get used to Mac and Apple stuffs even the Microsoft.

New Word.

Templates of Word. I have to say that these ideas of template are copied from Apple iWork, but they're good actually.

Looks almost the same as Word in Office 2010, background is different though.

New Powerpoint.

Templates of Powerpoint, very important thing.

This is the template I used in my graduation dissertation! It remains here in the new Powerpoint. A lot of templates are the same.

New MSN for Mac, with video, and, the bug of showing profile pic has been fixed, but I didn't find a option to change the pics on the contact list. Improved though. I hope I can connect facebook friends with this(as the MSN for iPhone), but I haven't discovered those features, more time needed.

Outlook, finally we have Outlook in Mac. It supports adding Exchange account to sync Hotmail(I tried several times but failed to establish account somehow...). My Gmail account also works bad here, always notifying me that failed to get mail from server. Maybe some settings are wrong, I left it for Mail though.

How to deal with those messy codes in iTunes

Due to the high marketing share of Windows, most resources of Chinese songs are encoded into the Windows way, which is GB18030, and iTunes couldn't recognise this type of encoding. Some tools like ID3Mod2 can convert GB18030 to UTF-8 so that Mac can read, but they're either not free or hard to operate.

While I found nLyrics is a very convenient stuff to do this(especially for Mac users). Long story short,

Open the program, click Tools->Convert Tag Encoding

Then you have:

Drag your music files or directories into the window, then click Encodings, find a encoding which can show the info of your songs correctly(mostly GB18030 will do).

Two Months In the Blink Of An Eye

I've been so epicurean here that I didn't even have time to think about where I was from and my family and friends there, but trust me, I'm not a hedonist. People from my hometown thought the sun should be more effulgent here, moon should be rounder, even air should diffuse the image of a higher standard life rather than just dirt everywhere.

Valid hypothesis, but incorrect.

Now I have a brief view here, I saw guys wearing long hair, criticising having their hair cut is bloody expensive, I like them, maybe one day my hair will be just like that of Achilles in ancient greek style. I saw everybody in the classroom carrying his or her shoulders bag, including lecturers, maybe this is the way it should be when studying rather than taking LV bags to lab.

Too many examples, though I can't quantify yet. I tried to describe this, but finally I only got one term in my mind: simple and unadorned.

Speaking of that, I remembered when I went to cinema with my sis, she clinged my arm and said no, too expensive. She told me she never thought it could be so good. We went out several times before I left, those are the most touching moments I had, I never knew that happiness was so easy to pursue, she's got that whip appeal, that's her ingenuousness.

I talked to her days before, I told her I met someone who's a little like her here.

快两个月了，这里天气还是像小孩子一样，善变。或许在一个地方住得太久真的会厌倦，谁又能保证在这里生活同样长时间结果会不一样？

或者我真的很容易被一成不变的生活击垮，所以趁这里还有新鲜感，好好享受。说不定多长时间以后，生活又走向另一个轮回，我疲惫地无法继续，再次逃离。

就像是期待一股神奇地力量降临的孩子，等候神父的爱德蒙唐代斯，命运就会在我们希望与失望，辉煌又没落之后，悄悄地靠近，不会像希腊众神那般耀眼，但是在无人问津又熟悉的角落，白驹过隙又绵长的瞬间，突然就会有不得不服从的指引。

只是还早，谁能预料谁又能断定未来的变数，或许在经过那么多年的沉寂之后，就不会在意现在依然这么萧条。一不做二不休，就像等待撞来的兔子，上钩的鱼一样。小寒跟我说了，这样不行，我也知道，可是我实在太害怕失败了，那种打击实在是承受不起，又何必。

生活安定后，各种事情接踵而来，要考虑的问题像一滴一滴雨一样在唏嘘的云中酝酿了好久，然后突然释放。我看着阳光在黑山的那边，好像很近，却无法触及，能感受到的只有被雨水侵袭的狼狈。阳光总会穿透乌云的，一定。

一个陌生的身影，半个熟悉的面庞。现实总是以无法回避的声音开着玩笑，从原始的小小的不甘心无限扩大到后来不可收拾的遗憾，其实都是自己不愿意接受罢了。自己的端倪在异域的空间里遍寻不获，相似的故事换上另一个主角来演，竟是如此让人绝望。

看过不该看的，继续前行。这里的天气还是时好时坏，为聚会装饰的彩条在屋子里没由来的摇曳，余音绕梁三日，然后慢慢了结。那边的朋友们，再过多久会忘却我存在时最后的禅念，或许等我再出现时，已经只能默然相视，然后微笑作别。不愿意承认自己从最开始就只能是过客，穿越那么多人的世界，最后像沙滩上的脚印一样被时间侵蚀。有时我宁愿手中没有纹路，没有前世的注定后世的追随，自由地看着太阳东升西落，然后落脚在另一个地方。

很久很久一样，穿越马路的瞬间，那个无法忘却的记忆，那容有娇花照水的优美，声是不可企及的妩媚。

I got a Preliminary Offer of Single Studio Accommodation in ANU

I received a email, telling me that I was "selected to receive a preliminary offer of a Single Studio apartment at Ursula Hall-Laurus Wing (Stages 1A and 2)."

Construction of the 18 units in Laurus Wing Stage 1A is expected to be completed by early to mid-July 2010, and 100 units in Stage 2 by mid-August 2010.

Before it is completed, there're "temporary accommodation at ANU@Citigate", which is "located on the corner of Mouat St and Northbourne Ave, Lyneham". The temporary place is 163$/week, including breakfast and dinner.

The single studio is 223$/week, I don't know whether meals are included. It's very small, but looks neat! Floor plan is as below.

窗外的野猫还在独自穿梭在花坛与墙角边觅食，见到人都会立刻躲开。这个时候觉得对不住宿舍的那几位常客。小龙，我，社长，永永悉心照料了那么久，最终还是不见了。猫本身就是孤僻并且善变的动物。那个时候，曾经有那么多时刻，我们一起在宿舍里，说着些无所谓的话，讲着些无所谓的事⋯⋯那两只猫在宿舍暖气片上各霸一方，融洽的无法形容。睡觉的时候没有人吵闹，看书的时候没有人游戏，不适的时候总会有人关心，购物回来总会把一切均分四份。看似容易，但有谁能坚持四年？和这样的舍友们在一起，真是走运。

大学前两年玩昏了头脑，都不知道以后要怎么办，只是一味的把游戏挨个打通关，好像虚拟的世界真的可以寄托日益膨胀的幻想。希望与失望的交替总是以轮回的形式出现，这之间省略了那些绝望的对白，再次从梦里醒来，已然是一个抱着仅有梦想的那个老男孩，从那时起，固执地认为这个世界不再围着自己转。

后来遇上了阿戴，然后我复制着他的行动，直到转身后我的背景在危墙下已经烙下印记，往返自习室与宿舍的匆匆。废旧工厂旁那条杂草众生的泥路在傍晚的月光下漆黑到不见五指，也看不见道路。人生总有看不到光明的时候，但并不注定着无助。被教学楼楼管赶出来后，我只能抓住阿戴的书包来平衡脚下的泥泞，眼前只有被夜晚融化的阴影。经历了这么多，发现路途的坎坷足够让我们深陷其中的时候，苦难以无法逃避的气势压来的时候，没有人可以帮自己。即使最亲近的人，所能做的也只是一句淡淡的关心。但当我们从寂寞的茧中熬出的时候，才发现自己历经千辛万苦独自走完的这条路并不孤独。相信阿戴一定能明白。

软件学院强人众多，老廖，欧阳，阿徵，亚伟⋯⋯同班的同学最了解。我坚信，每个人都是不同的，每个人都有优点。那么多人中，有些在项目中合作过，有些没有。虽然我基本都是组长，但是干的细活还是太少了。小龙这样的技术型人才更容易在考试中被埋没，但是成绩不是一切。需要合作完成的作业里，我基本都是扮演指挥的角色，没有人甘心做事，很难有结果。

大学不只有书本吧，也有阿龙，炜哥这些一起奔跑在球场上的球员们。我的传球和直塞越来越像斯科尔斯了，不是么？

漫长的大三大四，从自习室到图书馆，真是艰辛的日子。有时候我真的觉得自己很没用，有些事情我永远都做不好。不过这个时候，见到了那么多年前的莉莉，她说让我教她PS，免得每次都要我帮忙，我含糊其辞⋯⋯这样就没意思了。虽然都是点选手机，改图片等没有专业技术含量的事情，不管至少能让我觉得自己不是一无是处。我喜欢被别人需要的感觉。

没有网络的实验室是怎么孵出论文的，可能要去问大河了。那时并不觉得苦闷，反而每天都以大河的爆菊裤为中心把实验室变成了说笑的场所。无聊的时候，用无线局域网连起的暗黑，隔壁的实况，和那个语言学习软件成了不可或缺的笑料。

到了等待的时候，才觉得有事情忙是那么幸福，命运不在自己手里才是最痛苦的。真想每天都去逛街，但是一个人实在是太空虚了。看着钟楼的地下道熙熙攘攘，外面的阳光穿不透华丽的遮阳伞，却可以晒到窗子这头懒懒的脚趾头旁。如果每天都在沙发上打磨午后惬意的时光实在是太可惜了。还好小寒陪我走到了最后。虽然见面次数不多，不过总算看过了驯龙高手和玩具总动员。有些欲说还休的感动。留在心里吧。要走了。

遥远，这个词最佳的解释是星之声中即使用光速通信也需要八年才能到达的那条短信。“24岁的阿升，你好！我是15岁的美加子⋯⋯”

VMWare Fusion 3.1 in Mac

I was using Virtual Box before, but after I saw the Unity feature in Fusion, i decided to have a try, it looks fantastic from every way!

This window has a small snapshot of the guest system, when Unity is running, it's very useful.

This "Wait for Unity" window is used for logging in, after that, this window will disappear.

This menu is just like the windows start menu.

In VMWare, i only used 1 core of CPU, 1GB memory, the 3D accelerate is enabled.

But is rating is better than I thought. My SSD was amazingly 7.6!

In single window, windows aero effects can be enabled, the 3D feature is much better.

Applications' icons can be seen in mac's menu. But sometimes there will be problems when clicking.

Running applications' icons are on the Dock, but not so clear comparing to those in mac.

Unity is very cool, all windows from guest system are just like a part of mac, i just installed Office 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Mini Thunder...

Overall, i like Unity very much, but it's slower than in a single window, maybe it will be better in later updates~

与天朝比，澳大利亚的无比落后（转）

前几天从天朝飞往岛国澳大利亚，指导WRC工作的开展。刚下飞机，第一印象就很差，居然没有当地小学生组成的腰鼓队对我们进行迎接。走了几步，觉得澳大利亚不光是一介岛国，还是一个鸟国，很多的鸟类在地上乱走，极不雅观。
世界拉力锦标赛是最高级别的拉力赛事，但是这两年，中国拉力锦标赛已经飞速发展，有了赶超之势。到了参赛地黄金海岸后，发现当地的经济非常落后，一套带游泳池的大别墅的价格只相当于上海一套一百平方米的公寓的价格。当地人的生活非常艰苦，从机场到酒店，没有看见一台奔驰宝马或者奥迪，当地政府甚至穷的修建不起任何一个高速公路收费站。
进入到了堪路以后，更加觉得还是祖国好。在第一赛段的堪路中，我惊奇的发现，在赛道里居然有动物保护协会的人在赛道两边竖起了“WRC GO AWAY”的大标语，承办这样的世界最高级别体育比赛，当地居然有居民表示反对，这是非常不能理解的。更加不能理解的是，当地的政府软弱无能，居然纵容这样的标语突兀的展示在赛道两边的房子上，使得我们这些国外友人大为诧异。回想我国的汽车拉力锦标赛，如果出现这样的不和谐标语，下到村长上到县长都会被撤职，而始作俑者的每月三元钱养老金也将被政府罚没。
据了解，这一小撮好事之徒，居然以我们的赛车会撞死袋鼠为理由，对这场比赛进行反对。殊不知在我们国家，撞死人都没有关系。当然，在堪路的时候，我们国家是不可能撞到人的，各级党政机关相当的重视，提前对赛段进行了封闭，我们国家的口号是，狗和小孩都要栓好，鸡和女人都要圈好。这类的大型赛事，在我们国家的人民支持率为百分之一百，因为不支持的都被剥夺你当人民的权利，都是反动派。
见识了当地群众的思想觉悟几多低以后，我又对其余赛道进行了堪路，发现当地的经济真的已经崩溃，大批的地皮和农场都在“FOR SALE”，可见人们都没钱了，给我们留下了很不好的印象。我甚至很担心，像我这样来自中国的车手，会不会被当地人当做来扫货团的而被绑架。因为我在当地这么多天没有看见一个警察，可见当地的警力有多么薄弱。所以，我只有反复重申，在中国，我并不是一个党员，也不是房地产商，以求自保。
说到警方，中国拉力锦标赛举行的时候，政府极度重视，甚至出动上千警力来维持赛道内的交通状况，有时候甚至出动武警和军方，在赛道内出现一只鸡都要当场击毙，而澳大利亚政府的协调能力和指挥能力明显不够，300多公里的赛段里，我一个警察都没有看到，甚至有大腿粗的蛇在路上游动，惊吓到了赛员，非常不利于害怕蠕动类动物的赛员比出水平，比出风格。
世界拉力锦标赛的裁判也是非常的寒酸，在我们中国堪路，不用看路书，一路看着警察的站位就到了赛段，赛段里人头攒动的地方就是裁判点。相当的气派。但是在WRC里，我在路书标记的地方一直没有看见裁判，我不得不下车问在当地野餐的一对老年夫妇，裁判点在哪里？结果他们就是裁判。他们对比赛太不重视了。到了第二赛段，发现也是这样的情况，一对情侣在路边打着伞，我一度以为是来钓鱼的。他们甚至还掏出了糖果给我吃，我马上想到到我小时候接受的教育，那是资本主义的糖衣炮弹，我立即拒绝了他们。
到了超级短道的堪路，我彻底失望了。这个超级赛段由当地一个镇子上的街道组成，堪路的时间是六点半，但是我一直等到了七点半，街道还是不能封闭，当地的城管工作非常的不利，我们知道，不对那些要擅自闯入属于国家财产的街道的车主进行不见伤的殴打，怎么能快速的封路呢？如果这样的比赛在我国举行，提前三天就给你把街道封了，给两边刷上新油漆，给小草也刷上新油漆，绝对会给赛员们一个良好的印象。也展现出我们政府一向的强势，当然是对内的。
虽然还没有开始比赛，但我已经可以说，国际汽联和中汽联的能力不在一个档次上，国际汽联的赛事，只会在车检上做文章，我的赛鞋的鞋底有一个洞都差点没有通过车检，在我们国家，拿皮鞋去车检都没有问题。我们国家对赛车的检查只认牌子，就是说，你报名用三菱参加比赛，只要你开过去的是一台三菱，而不是一台五菱之星，你就车检合格了，什么排量啊改装啊甚至型号啊都好商量，而国际汽联的检查太过严格，不够人性，不够灵活，自断财路。另外，我每到一地，当地的领导都会亲切的与我会见，希望我多为当地的经济发展做出宣传，我说，好的，我一定会把当地的县政府大楼拍成照片贴出来的，以证明当地的富强，但不知道为何，他们都谦虚的拒绝了我这一个要求。而我在澳大利亚三天，居然没有能接见他们的领导，我觉得他们非常失礼，最失礼的是，我居然没找到他们的政府大楼，当地的政府机构也经常被我误认为是移动厕所。对于这样一个不注重政府形象的国家，怎么可能办好比赛呢？
澳大利亚的世界拉力锦标赛已经走上了末路，我代表中国，邀请世界拉力锦标赛的澳大利亚分站赛改由我国举办，我保证，绝对不会产生任何不和谐的现象，有车开，有肉吃，有钱拿，有幼女嫖。当然，如果你看中了我们国家，想定居我们国家，我觉得还是算了，我们国家的房子你们是买不起的。

饯别的季节

一切都直到我送小寒到宿舍楼下，才变得明晰。

忙碌了一天，在闷热的卖场里，拥挤的公交车上，暴露在阳光下的街道边，和幽暗的电影院里。突然，我心疼了。不明就里。

那个孩子，淳朴的孩子，拥有着从未被城市里的喧嚣所玷污过的心灵。在西式快餐店吃米饭的执着，在万达广场时抱怨的那句“好高消费”，在买驯龙高手的票时拽着我小声细语着“太贵啦”⋯⋯我突然回到了原本应该属于这个世界的单纯。快乐真的是用钱买不到的，但就是这么简单。我喜欢朴素的孩子。虽然最后，我第一次窘迫到钱包里连一张毛爷爷的头像都没有了，但我很开心。第一次在电影院看电影，第一次看3D电影，我看着她笑著样子，觉得值了。

一直觉得，没有被物质欲熏陶过的灵魂更可爱。城市里太多东西是虚伪的，太多人之间的关系是空洞的，松耦合的人脉中有多少是靠金钱来衡量的？又有多少是因为利益而存在的？

所以当我和阿戴一起逛街时，感到的是不一样的轻松。人原本就是很简单的动物，并且这样很好，不是吗。

这是大四了，对我来讲不一样的大四。所有人都会在这个时候吃散伙饭，但是对我来讲，有多少人在一顿饭后或许就再也遇不到了？我听小寒不断抱怨着自己的学校很小，很不好意思带我游览的情节时，觉得一切都无所谓了。毕竟还有一些人是我所在意的，抑或是在意我的。你们能保证当我离开这里后好好地过自己的日子么？你们能保证不要被世俗所击倒，能从容地在堕落的人群中抽身而退，不要被他们所污染么？那么，我可以安心地把自己交付给另一个国度了。

很久没有更新了，可能是因为每当手指触到键盘的瞬间，那些白驹过隙的感觉就悄悄溜走了。思绪如同沙般从指尖滑过，不知是因为麻木还是茫然。

不过昨天真的很幸福，是那种知道我能够给别人带来幸福的幸福。这个感觉在这个世界里太少见了，我甚至不知到该怎样保存它。

我没有目送小寒上楼，可能是因为不忍心看到离去的背影吧。转身的刹那，天色渐晚，夜临。

回家的路上，不经意地数着路边的街灯，车流来往恍若霓虹。

Advantages of Macbook Pro

I think the most important standards for a good notebook is its size, weight, and battery. Now that its not a desktop, I don't ask for best performance, plus, PC games are more and more boring and I'm doubting those developers' dedication on PC platform. Seems that Video games are much better.

Macbook Pro fulfils all my requirements, its light, small, thin, and with a much longer endurance battery.

Comparing with my old notebook ASUS F3SV, Macbook Pro is almost of half thickness.

Smaller size makes it easier to put into a bag.

Weighing.

Old notebook weighs almost 3 kg without charger.

With charger, it's more than 3.5 kg, killing my shoulder.

Macbook Pro 13' is only 2 kg with battery and charger, since the SSD hard drive is lighter.

Another important criteria is the battery. Fully charged Macbook Pro 13' with SSD can extend its endurance to more than 12 hours... at least as the system indicates. Bluetooth and Airport are turned off, and the screen illumination is turned dark.

If Airport is on, the endurance will be shorten to 11 hours, but it's still amazingly long.

Great surprise, isn't it?

After a week's time, I finally got my Macbook Pro from Hong Kong. Bloodmoon asked me to upload some pics, as he wishes.

13' vs 15'. Is Macbook Pro 13' too big??? Definitely no, this is just a visual delusion.

From the left side. Mac OSX10.6 supports NTFS hard drives, I just need to rewrite a file to acquire both write and read permissions.

今天在大河的怂恿之下，又一次用ATMA改出了一个80级的亚马逊，恍惚间一切又在重演，用鼠标的按键声去渲染的血雨腥风，用满屏幕的冰与火堆砌的硝烟战场。

还是那个2.5D的画面，却屹立了10年。延绵到今天，华丽不再局限于DX9的全屏抗锯齿或DX10的统一架构渲染，当眼前重温过这个画面，谁能不说这是迄今为止最好的ARPG？

耀眼的金光勾勒出银白色的套装，这是亚马逊永恒的经典，马维娜的战斗诗歌。其实她的真名叫阿维娜（Avina），意为“飞翔的少女”，成为族长后，按照惯例在名字前加大写M以致敬意。

在说那传奇般的风之力。

很多人奇怪我为什么叫这个昵称，Windforce，算是有一点点诗情画意吧。那是一个容易被别人影响的年龄，那个时候我铭记下了风之力==王道这个道理。风之力到底意味着什么，又隐藏着什么含义？其实很简单：它让你可以用冰冻死冰冷免疫的怪，用火烧死火焰免疫的魔，目空一切，人挡杀人佛挡杀佛。就是这么牛。

Diablo II，那不止是一个快乐其实很简单的年代。如果说当时的画面算是出神入化，但放到今年早已是陈年旧曲。不过无论如何，它的游戏性还是没有谁能超越。有人问我火炬之光与暗黑比孰优孰劣，答案在我心里没有悬念。一款游戏，庞大而精深，易于上手，难于精通，永远有挖掘不完的乐趣，这便是游戏性。一千个人眼里有一千个哈姆雷特，那么在暗黑里一千个亚马逊可以有一千个风格。每个职业都特点鲜明，每款装备背后都有自己的故事，每个BOSS都有自己的传奇。

至于下一代么，估计一时半会也等不上了。这就是暴雪的风格吧。

很久没用汉语更新过了，不过我肯定中国人更需要理解这篇文章。

废话不多说，之前我用过各种免费翻墙软件，各有利弊。

FreeGate速度快，但打不开一些中国网站（如人人网），并且在浏览器用Google搜索时所搜关键词会被复制一遍。

GAppProxy支持多平台，但总是得不到一些网站的SSL授权，导致没有cookie就没法登入（如Twitter）。

Puff不稳定，经常断线。

Hotspot Shield有烦人的广告。

最近要用Mac了，急于找一个适用于非Windows的翻墙软件，遍寻不获绝望之时掏到了用Java编写的Toonel。

Toonel特点：

与FreeGate类似，是非常绿色（废话）的软件，不用安装，体积小，双击运行，方便。

刷网页速度略慢，但可以打开国内外所有网站，且支持所有的操作系统，完全免费，不失为非Windows用户的免费翻墙最佳解决方案！

Who the hell is WEI YU in Assassin’s Creed II ?

I was playing Assassin’s Creed II, Ezio was led to a basement full of ancient famous assassins(none of them I knew), including the hero in Assassin’s Creed I, Altair, his equipment was missing.

Then I noticed a statue with the comment: “Atop this pedestal stands a statue of WEI YU, the Male Chinese Assassin. He used a SPEAR to kill the first Chinese Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. It looks like something is missing from the pedestal…”

My history is pretty bad, but I’m sure that I’ve never heard anyone with this name. History records that there was an assassin named Jin Ke, who was the most skilled swordsman at that time, was sent to assassinate Qin Shi Huang. Jin Ke’s partner, Qin Wu Yang, was scared to wet and shuddered to talk(although he was said to be a cold blood killer who murdered a lot of people since he was 12 and normal people didn’t dare to look straight at his face), so Jin Ke could just do it himself. He hid a toxic dagger in a map, which Qin Shi Huang wanted to see. When he opened the map, Qin Shi Huang saw the weapon and then dodged away. Jin Ke ran after Qin Shi Huang in the palace, where nobody else was authorized to take any weapons. Qin Shi Huang carried a huge sword himself, but the sword was so long that he tried 3 times still unable to pull it out. An officer remained him to pull the sword from his back, Qin Shi Huang finally managed it and chopped off Jin Ke’s left leg. Jin Ke was stabbed 8 times before he died and his useless partner, Qin Wu Yang, was also killed(of course).

The reason of Qin Shi Huang’s death remained to be mysterious. Most common saying is that he was killed by illness, a cold, tired body… the famous writer, Guo Mo Ruo believes that Qin Shi Huang was probably murdered by his younger son Hu Hai, who was unpleased with Qin Shi Huang’s will(let the elder son Fu Su inherit the throne).

Either way, assassinating Qin Shi Huang with such a big spear must be nonsense, carrying conspicuous weapons is definitely forbidden when getting close to an empire in China history.

This Wei Yu… must be a fictitious name. Ubisoft is bullshitting the history references, that’s all.

I thought all my hard work was history, there’s nothing I can do, but everything just doesn’t go as what I think it should be.

If I can’t get my correct offers from ANU before 10th April, I’ll have to choose expensive UMEL. Good or bad? Who knows…

Or, maybe one day I weak up in the morning and feel everything is different, I’d think just as Bill Murray did in Groundhog Day: “Anything different is good”.

It seems that all I can do is to wait, but I happen to be someone whose patience is too easy to end. My creed is that, as long as I do my best, I’d achieve what I want.

But in this, what can I do? I called their admission office, college office; I wrote emails to their researchers and even dean. What else can I do other than cross my fingers?

Melbourne is not a bad place anyway, it’s just... a little bit expensive. I can use the money to buy a PS3, XBOX360, plenty of games…

To calculate the tour distances of TSPLIB instances

For so many months, I calculated the tour distances of TSPLIB instances using double type and reserved all bits, but when the problem became larger and larger, I found that the optimum lengths I calculated were a little longer than what they should be.

I googled this, and found the standard method to calculate the lengths for TSPLIB instances, the distances of two cities should be rounded into integers.

Here’s the code to calculate the distance between city i and city j, in which point[][0] means the x coordinate, point[][1] means the y coordinate:

How to use Google’s GAppProxy with your own fetchserver

First of all, download the files required from the link below:
http://code.google.com/p/gappproxy/

The cycled link need to be downloaded.
Also, goto http://code.google.com/p/sdapp/downloads/list to download the SDUpdate.

Register an Google AppEngine account, then create an application.

Uncompress the file you downloaded, then arrange your documents like this:

Open the “app.yaml” file in your “fetchserver” directory, change the first line “your_application_name” to your application ID which you created.
Open CMD, find SDUpdate directory, input the command
sdupload update fetchserver
Then input your Google account name and password.(no character will be shown when you’re typing your password)
Check whether your fetchserver is working or not, open the link http://yourapplication.appspot.com/fetch.py, change “yourapplication” to your application ID.

At last, open “gui.exe” in your GAppProxy directory, click “Use Fetchserver”, then copy your fetchserver address to right box.

Click “Save”, then change your browser proxy settings to 127.0.0.1:8000.

Fruitless…and nothing to loose

Since when do I get used to lab’s life? Like an employee, working 8 hours a day, but with nothing to gain.

I decided to run the pla85900 TSP instance, this takes a tricky algorithm, which I might not have, but moreover, it takes courage. As every crossover will cost approximately 0.6~1 sec on my poor notebook, this will take months, 2 or 3 or longer.

I started the program on a PC in my lab, that PC would be mine in the further 3 months. Half an hour passed, black console window was still all black, without a word. Big River came and laughed:”What the crap is this? I can code a program like this within 1 sec~”.

Then he typed.

He ran the program, the same effect with mine. Wordless…

Well…Sheldon Copper worked in his lab for so many years without getting any awards, although he had the so called IQ of 187. Today, I read a local newspaper, which quoted a Chinese government officer’s words: “China Internet is opening up”. On the other hand, they pointed out that Google is becoming a political tool, which can erode people’s mind.

The public voice is that, this country has it’s right to keep the antisocial, pornographic, violent… in all, bad things out of the mass media, this is what Google can’t obey. Also, they insist that Google’s leaving is it’s own business, ain’t nobody forces it in this country, which implies that, the only one who will lost in this game is Google.

Sure, how can a company fights a country?

But don’t you realise there’s so many flaws in their sayings? How can they say the Internet is still opening up when they are trying to keep every piece of bad news out of people’s eyes? People have their own views, people can distinguish rights from wrongs, people need to know the truth.

But we have no chance to acquire the bad news.

So, is the Internet in China really opening up? Here’s the latest statistics:

Facebook, the most popular social website in this world, a website who has the largest number of members on this planet(400000000 members), people from coast to coast communicate with each other there, except Chinese. Why? It is harmonized, ‘cause there are too many different opinions about China.

Twitter, the best microblog in the world, the quickest way the make your thoughts known by others, even the president of the US and Japan use it to publish their stats. More than 75 million people use Twitter to update their status all over the world, except Chinese. Why? ‘Cause the news spread too fast on that platform.

Google, the best search engine, takes up 85.74% of searching market share globally, is tired of filtering every result that Chinese government bans, and is quitting. Why? ‘Cause it’s technique is too advanced, Google Rank sorts all results automatically, it can’t tolerate manual changes of the TRUTHs. Unlike Baidu, a piece of shit.
If Google quits, sure it will lost it’s market in China, but along with it is our gate to a bright world, a path to the truth, a window to knowledge, a bridge to the most advanced technologies in the world, a way to the top of the world, the only way.

WinSxS…you must be shitting me

For supporting genuine software, I started to use the OEM version Windows Vista Home Premium, which is the original system when I bought my notebook 3 years ago.

Quitting Windows 7 is not easy, I just can’t get used to something on Vista, and keep thinking of those trivial details that make things so user-friendly in Win 7.

I miss aero shake, aero peek, aero snap so much.

Digressed part is done.

But the worst thing that I can’t stand with is the WinSxS issue.

When I installed the system, I updated to Vista SP2 immediately, that took a whole morning in lab, and when it was done, I found that my system partition had already occupied 27.7GB----I hadn’t install any other software, and my C drive had been fucked up.

I remembered that when I used Vista so many years before, the WinSxS document in C:\WINDOWS was as large as 12GB, so I checked that out.

Not amazing, my WinSxS document was already nearly 8GB when I just installed Vista system and updated to SP2.

I knew that WinSxS contained some very important files that dealt with some compatibility problems, but I still googled it, thinking that maybe there were some new solutions, but microsoft disappointed me.

Here’s what they fucking said:

Changing or deleteing files in this location is I must personally say pure stupidity! ...WinSXS contains every dll and system file from Windows 95 to Windows 2008 Server, This is done so every application can be used on every new version of Windows...So, if you have lot of application installed, that folder may be large.

I don’t know how many users are just like me, using a 3-year-old harddisk, poorly hoping that my C drive can spare more free space so that system can run faster. But mircosoft doesn’t give a shit, harddisks seem so cheap and reasonable for us to buy in their eyes.

直到现在，时间没有掩埋不可逾越的鸿沟，我看着这些如同望着对岸的陌生，摇摇头，也就只能叹息。就像终结者在炙热的熔炉前沾湿了救世主的面容，他心里哭得撕心裂肺，而它，却只能以“我永远都做不到的事情”作结尾。没错，人类的情感永远无法嫁接到金属的冰冷上，我知道的，于是，我抓紧那条铁链，默默地把自己湮没在毁灭中，重起。

人品原理（Theory of Characterics）

当人类的文明进化到用人品来代替道德和运气时，某天如梦初醒的FnGs突然意识到人品的重要，于是经过大量的统计试验和科学并且客观的理论推导，FnGs的人品导论应运而生。

为了帮助大家深刻地理解人品，在此引用百度百科的众多定理，顺便生装一下旁征博引的本事~

引理1：人品的概念。
第一是指你的运气，比如模样罕见暴率的装备你打怪得到了，别人会说你“人品好”，也就是指你运气好。
第二是指你的玩游戏的品性，比如一件装备是法师的东西，而身为一个战士的玩家抢夺了这件装备，别人会说这个战士“人品差”，反之如果另一个法师本身没有这件装备而且愿意无条件出让这件装备的话，别人会说他“人品好”。
引理2：人品学三大定律。
第一定律：即人品守恒定律，在任何过程中，宇宙中人品总量保持为常数。（也就是说，做好事增加人品做坏事损人品，遇到好事是以前积攒的人品起了作用，而要是你连自己系开的必修课都没选上，那你真的要多扶扶老奶奶过马路了）
第二定律：不可能把人品从一个人品低的人传到一个人品高的人，而不引起其它变化。（也就是说，人品低的想获得人品需要付出一定的代价，而请客吃饭等就是其最简单易行的途径。）
第三定律：不能用有限的步骤使一个人的人品完全消耗。（也就是说，你再怎么霉，也还是会有点人品存量的，所以永远不要灰心丧气。）请大家看一个范例：「塞翁的马丢了，他说“没事，攒人品”，当他丢失的马带回来一群马，别人羡慕不已，他则暗叹“不妙，人品消耗的太多”，果然他的儿子因为骑马而摔断了腿后，他摇摇头说“继续攒人品”，等到战争时别人家的孩子被征兵战死沙场，只有他的儿子因为腿断了而幸免，这时他激动地说“人品爆发了啊”......
引理3：人品定义。
从广义上说，但凡科学无法确定的，不在科学所能接受范畴之内的现象均可用人品来给出解释，即人品是涵盖宏观和微观世界的客观存在；从狭义上说，人品也称为运势，通过个体衍生至全部，从而影响整个宇宙的发展。
引理4：人品的性质。
人品是客观存在的，不以人的意志为转移；人品是无处不在，无所不能的；人品是绝对的，不受任何外力的影响。
引理5：人品统计定律。
对于个体事件，人品是极不确定的，或不可量度的；然而对于大量的事件而言，人品会体现一定的统计规律。
引理6：人品爆发点。
人品爆发：一定条件下，存在以单位最小人品投入量获得最大单位的收益的点，称为“人品爆发点”。

有了以上的理论还不够，众多人品学者们又开始为人品不可测量，只可比较的难题伤透脑筋。FnGs在自己的实践与研究中总结出了重要的FnGs人品模型，从而将人品量化以便定量地对一个人的人品进行考核。

FnGs人品曲线理论：在自然情况下（即不积攒人品也不消耗人品时），一个人的人品应以近似于直线的轨迹发展；而当一个人以某种方式获取或消耗人品后，人品曲线会出现不可预知的波动（上升还是下降很大程度上取决于该人究竟是获得还是失去人品），波动不会维持很长时间，而会很快地转化成类似正弦的曲线，若该人不再有影响人品的行为，人品曲线会在阻尼参数的拟合下逐渐退化成原始的类直线。

FnGs人品爆发原理：人品的爆发是在任何条件下都有可能发生的，但在不同的时刻爆发的概率不同。表现在人品曲线上时，人品爆发概率在大部分情况下与人品曲线的斜率成正比，与负斜率的绝对值成反比（即若一个人既不积攒人品又不消耗人品，那么人品爆发的概率就很低了），但人品爆发概率最大的点是人品曲线二阶导为零且左右两边符号改变的点（即人品到达最顶峰或最底谷时爆发的概率最大）。

附录：人品问题的来源
人品问题的说法最早源自暴雪公司人气极高的著名游戏暗黑破坏神2（Diablo II）。在某一时期，此游戏出现过一种传闻，称游戏中包含了一种类似“人品”的隐藏属性，玩家的不同行为会影响其人品值，而较高的人品值会有更高的掉宝率。人品值只能降而不能升，也就是玩家最开始的人品值最高，以后随着“坏事”干得多而逐渐变低（类似于熵增定律）。影响人品的行为包括亵渎死者（在路上看到死亡的旅行者，去翻他们的尸体获取金币和物品）和临阵畏缩（在打BOSS的时候开传送门）等等。
此传闻并未得到暴雪官方的证实，但却在玩家特别是国内玩家中不胫而走，不信者有之，信者亦有之。但不管传闻真实与否，多数玩家都会用此说法来互相调侃，将某些运气极坏的现象都戏称为“人品有问题”，在游戏聊天时由于不能输入中文，所以通常都简写为 RPWT。
此后“人品问题”一词便流行开来，并不再局限于 Diablo 游戏之中，现在此说法的应用范围已经具有较大普适性。通常将不合常理的或不易解释的事件，都戏称为人品问题（RPWT）。

Today I decided to postpone one of my ANU offers for 1 year, and this July, I hope I could be on my trip to Melbourne.

But changing is always faster than planning, isn’t it?

More tuition fee, less time to waste. Maybe there’s a scholarship, but I can’t apply until I’ve got my degree, and maybe, that’d be too late, ‘cause the number is only 28.

Last week has been bittersweet, out planned, out of my mind. The most beautiful voice told me that we could have been together if we were in the same place. That cleared my cloud. The only problem was distance. The other one brought me bad news that she screwed up her postgraduate exam, I just didn’t know what to say. In this world, who can console you, who can shoulder you? How I hope everybody could get what they want, so sincerely, but things just won’t go as what we wish, will they? C’est la vie.

At least, I’ve done everything I can, whatever’s gonna happen, it’s out of my control. I just have to make sure that, if there’s any chance, I won’t get to sit one out.

Since Australian National University doesn’t give students conditional COE this year, I can’t get my visa on time if I wanna study there. All the others universities give conditional COEs, only the one I wanted the most played a joke on me.

In fact I have a 1-year offer from the University of Melbourne and a 2-year offer from the University of New South Welsh, the only reason I want to study for 2 years is that I want to emigrate to Australia. So now I have 5 choices about what to do in my next 2 or 3 years.

Nothing new at first sight, but then I noticed a interesting thing: I can add myself as friend. This feature was banned before, but this version we can add ourselves again, maybe because of a big bug.

It was the second day in Tiger Year, and I already had nothing to do but keep playing Bioshock 2, pathetic.

Anyway, this is a game that is ranked 9.1 last year, worth playing. All the way through the customs this game showed different feelings from the last one. The most important one is that you are a “Big Daddy”, if you want to gather more adam, you need to take good care of your “Little Sister”.

Hearing the voice of “Little Sister”s always makes me feel the prominence of family bond is the key to this game. Every time I went to a vent I’d rescue my “Little Sister”, more adam seems meaningless comparing to their lovely calling. This is a game for lolicons~

And at last, when you can summon “Big Sister” to help you get through those countless enemies, the plot becomes affecting. The last scene, “Big Sister” take off her helmet and give her “Big Daddy” an injection to make their minds bind together. I woke up this morning and fount that Facebook’s face changed again…good or bad? I don’t know what to say~

Header looks more tidy, Friend Requests, Messages and Notifications and integrated together.

Seems more convenient.

Messages, Events, Photos, Friends, Applications… all in the front page.

But I didn’t find Notes here, I just found Friends->Status Updates. So, how can I read Notes of friends? What’s wrong? Oh my dear god, Notes, Groups and Links are hided in the “More”… Do they think Notes are not important anymore?

One good thing is that in Friends, I can check out all the news feeds from different lists, this is useful, ‘cause there are always so many spam things from unknown friends, groups and applications. So I can make some lists of friends and check out those lists, very nice, I’ve thought of this long before~

Those actions are really vivid in PES2010, and I think the picture is good. Problems are, there are so many bugs, players are even sliding on the field, football match is like a gangster fight, everything is in chaos…

So I don’t really like to control a whole team, ‘cause the teamwork in this game is all messed up. The only thing NPCs know is to rush to rivial’s goal, they never look back, they never stop running.

In my football knowledge, this game is based on passing the ball, people stop the ball, look for friendlies, and then pass, this is how we do it.

But in this game, NPCs stop the ball, and then they just dribble towards. Matchs in this game are based on running, not passing, how ironic, this is not racing.

More ironic thing is, most peope never notice this when playing this game.

new and malloc bug in VC6.0

I just got my ass kicked in my program, I checked the code, the program stopped at a assembly line.

I searched this line, then found 2 articles from CSDN, very valuable.

Article 1(from http://blog.csdn.net/sijigang/archive/2007/01/15/1483934.aspx):

_heap_alloc_debug will cause program break down, for every version of VC++6.0.
new invoked ._malloc_dbg(), and _heap_alloc_dbg().
In _heap_alloc_dbg() there’s a long iterater, _lRequestCurr (Microsoft visual Studio\VC98\Crt\Src\dbgheap.c), and is initialized to be 1。
Everytime new() or malloc() is invoked, this iterater plus 1, when your program runs long enough, this value would be between -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647.
Problem occurs in the codes below: _heap_alloc_dbg():

lRequest is initialized to be _lRequestCurr，_crtBreakAlloc is initialized to be －1, when the program starts.

Next time when plusing 1, 2,147,483,647 + 1 = -2,147,483,648. Then invoke lRequest (_lRequestCurr) -2,147,483,648 was added to -1, the value of _crtBreakAlloc and lRequest (_lRequestCurr) will both be -1, _CrtDbgBreak() will be invoked, then error occurs.
_CrtDbgBreak() shows exception, and stop the program. Test program will break down in 4~5 hours.

All the programs that invoke new() or malloc() too frequently will break down sooner or later in DEBUG version.

   F10   can’t even break out,   if you are not using   vc but just excuting the program,   when   int   3   appears there will be an error（ either stop or debug）;
        And the   _lRequestCurr   will add 1 everytime it is invoked,   from   1   to   －1   are only 4 billion times.
I measured this by using breakpoint,   my program invoked this function 600000 time every minute,（   i.e. invoking   New，I never invoke   New explicitly，all by using   CString   std::string ）, then 2 days later there will be an error.
